I have developed new skills and a greater passion for teaching. Being able to cultivate a culture of lifelong learning in others, has always been my goal. UCA has afforded me the privilege of making this goal attainable. I love seeing the look of amazement on learners faces when they enter the Science Lab! These are just some of the things that make my job fulfilling.”
PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
MYANMAR
With the outbreak of Covid-19, Eden responded quickly and became relevant to the current need. In March, Eden had already distributed 2 tonnes of food, 16,000l of soap and PPE including 36,000 masks to people caught in trafficking and prostitution. They are continuing this great work by both making and distributing thousands of face masks. It was our great privilege to support this front- line organization.
CONSTRUCTION OF CLASSROOMS
QODESH RAMA E.C.E., ZIMBABWE
The team at New Day Education Trust has worked tirelessly even through lockdown to build three classrooms and two toilets. Preschoolers, many who are orphans or vulnerable, no longer have to walk for 5 or more kilometers to attend school. We were privileged to provide for the construction of Qodesh Pre-school where the children will be nurtured in a safe and loving environment.
CRISIS RELIEF
SLUMS OF KOHALPUR, NEPAL
Extended lockdowns, due to Covid-19, has resulted in multiple day laborers losing employment. This loss of income has meant that people living in the slums of Kohalpur have not been able to purchase even basic supplies. Working with Shepherd's House, it was our privilege to donate much needed food supplies, as well as jackets and blankets to help them through the cold winter. It was reported that some of the community could not sleep due to their excitement and anticipation of new, warm clothes!
SCHOOL DESKS & CHAIRS
QODESH RAMA, E.C.E., ZIMBABWE
To coincide with the re-opening of the school, after an extended period of lockdown, we are providing 50 school desks and chairs for the little learners at Qodesh Rama E.C.E. The children will be able to have their own organized workspace and we trust that it will facilitate great learning. We love what NDET is doing with these little treasures!
HEAL PROJECT
BEIYINQING, CHINA
Concordia Welfare and Education Foundation (CWEF) is renovating the village’s old and dilapidated water system in Beiyinqing, Yunnan. They are replacing water pipes, many of which are cracked and broken. Additionally, the project will also support one large water cistern and three smaller cisterns for the community’s water storage needs. After construction is completed, each household in the village will have a convenient and reliable source of clean drinking water at their home. We love being part of bringing much needed water to the villagers.
SCIENCE LABORATORY
INTEGRITY HIGH SCHOOL, NIGERIA
In order for Integrity H.S. to become fully certified as a school and to be open to the public, they need to have a multipurpose (chemistry, biology, agriculture, physics) science laboratory. The lab will enable the school to be a registered testing center and provide quality education for the 50 orphans they care for as well as students in the local community. We are overjoyed to invest in the betterment of the education of these young men who are being raised up as future leaders.
FOOD DISTRIBUTION
RIMNA VILLAGE, NEPAL
Families in the rural village of Rimna in western Nepal, were delighted to receive food aid. Covid has resulted in loss of work and income for so many.
